Adam had forsaken his love and loyalty to God for one woman whom he loved above all else. He gave up everything because he couldn't bare to be without her. That if she were to die so would he. He didn't think twice about the consequences or that God may have forgiven her had he remained loyal to him.. or that God could create for him a new companion. None of that mattered. Seeing Eve as she was.. as beautiful as she was.. he couldn't get passed his love for her. Thus the fall of man and the continuation of sin.
