Whenever im asked to write about someone who has influenced my life or about who I consider as a hero - I always, always say my mom.
My mom, from the very beginning has always been that one constant thing in my life that I could rely on, have faith in and believe in. Through all the ups and downs she has never stopped loving me unconditionally. To be a mother is to no longer have the luxury of being selfish anymore, but instead to give everything and think only of her children. And my mom has done just that. She always gives and gives.
She once drove all the way to PA and arrived a few hours after I called her - crying from camp because I was so miserable. She immediatley left her office and drove to come get me. As soon as I saw her I broke down and started crying again and she told me "Hey your a big girl now, why're you crying". She wanted me to stay yet when I looked in the car she had bought me candy, chocolate chip cookies and Chinese food. All my favorites.
A lot of people say we look alike, laugh alike, smile alike, talk alike
And I will sit there and deny it all day - but I know its true.
I used to hate that we were so much alike but really I could not have asked for a better person to be modeled after. Why complain about being so similar to one of the most amazing person I know. I thank God for allowing me to in any way - even if a little - be something like her
I remember one day, my friend and I were hanging out downstairs and we were all facing the TV. My mother decides to tease me but I dont look at her. Suddenly as she is walking down the stairs I hear...
"AIEYA, AIEYA, AIEYA"
as she continues to trip down the stairs.
I could only laugh and shake my head while thinking "Yeah...im exactly like her"
The day I realized how strong she was happened right after her huge accident. She had fractured both her left arm and leg in a bike accident. She was in the hospital for weeks - bedridden for longer. Yet still, each and every day she smiled, joked and stayed absolutely positive. Even through the pain, she kept trying each day to recover. She cried during her physical therapy sessions but she'd still come home and continue doing her exercises - just so she could get better and start biking again lol
A lot of us like to complain that she never learns - she's had more accidents than I can list... stabbing herself with a box cutter, shredding her big toe nail with highly pressurized water, climbing roofs with chain saws, jumping through cliffs, fighting snakes and more.. much more
But really... all those crazy things she does makes me admire her that much more. Shes not afraid to be herself. Shes not afraid to take chances and go on adventures. Shes very stubborn and childish sometimes but she knows how to enjoy life to the fullest.
I love my mother. I love her joy of the simple things in life. I love when she tries to wear make-up and fails. I love when she cooks the food I like just to make me happy. I love how she gets mad at me when I bully my cats. I love when she prints pictures of my friends and I so I can frame them. I love how she just giggles when shes embarrassed. I love how she always knows just what I need. I love how she buys me a million of the same thing just because I mentioned once that I liked something. I love how she'll get up at 1 am to make me lunch for the next day - just because she heard me tell my brother I have no lunch. I love her stubbornness. I love how she never knows how to match her shoes with her outfit. I love how shes good at everything. I love how much everyone looks up to my mom. I love how much she is appreciated by all who know her. I love her strength. I love her faith in God. I love her passion for all that she does. I love her creativity. I love her smile and laughter. I love her selflessness. I love her quirks. I love how dedicated she is to our family. I love how much she loves this family. I really love my mother and I sincerely could not have asked God to bless me with someone better.
