I feel bad that I am currently not super inspired to write this but since i've been slacking its still going to happen. Mainstream music, honestly, is crap. BUT. BUT. The power of mainstream music cannot be overlooked or underestimated. Everywhere you go nowadays you are bombarded with mainstream music. In advertisements, media, radio, commercials etc. its pretty much endless. I think the thing about mainstream music is its power of being CATCHY. It hooks on people. It sticks. Its remembered.
I hate listening to the radio because mainstream music is all you hear. repeated. over and over. And yet... you'll catch me each morning going to school listening to the radio. Certain songs I hear that im sick of i'll still listen to because it sticks.
The lyrical meaning to most mainstream music is worthless. Every now and then you have something inspiring but its very rare. Usually they try and throw in a "good message" to justify the song and get people hooked but its usually very basic and obvious. Mainstream music usually lacks the depth, soul and heart that many overlooked artists have.
