Can't pet my own pet

So how terrible is it that when I want to cuddle with my cats, I can't..because I'm allergic to cat dander...

::currently has face covered in cortizone (itch medicine)::

::sniff::

UNFAIR. I just wanna hug my babies and my skin literally attacks me...

Its a sad story when a pet owner is allergic to her own pets...

We like to think children don't really know a lot of about stuff when they are young but you'd be surprised. Children listen, feel, and understand a lot more than we give them credit for. A lot of adults today could use some advice from these kids.

Just A Reminder

Theres no doubt in my mind that I have always, always been blessed with the greatest best friends a girl could ever ask for. I have a lot of people I consider GOOD friends. But as for BEST friends - I have four. Each of them bringing something special and unique to my life. Each of them impacting me in different ways but all of them always supporting and loving me just the same. I know I can call upon and depend on each of them at any time.

My huswife, especially, has always been there for me through thick and thin. We have our disagreements sometimes but I know no matter what, or even if we haven't spoken to each other in a long time, I can always depend on her to come through for me. We have been through a LOT in our 8 years of friendship. She knows she can hit me up at 3am when she needs me and she knows I know she'll do the same for me (and this has been done, so I have proof lol). Whether we're wrong or right, we fully support each other. When I feel vulnerable, down, or miserable I know I can count on her to understand me, listen to me, and accept me. She doesn't sugar coat things for me, and I really appreciate that. When she goes through rough times I am there crying with her. When I go through rough times she is there holding my hand through it all.

And just when I felt like we were drifting just a little bit - I get reminded again just how much I love this girl like shes my other half.

Its a little cheesy but I really like the above ^ picture of us - it describes our friendship. We support each other no matter what waves may come, big, small, completely overbearing...

we always have each other to lean on.

Grandparents

Dad & Mom

I used to have four grandparents, then since 8 years ago I had three... in the past 6 months two... now, after 2 months, Im left with only one - my maternal grandfather. My maternal grandmother died a long time ago from cancer. My paternal grandfather died suddenly from a brain tumor one morning. My paternal grandmother, recently passed from disease and heartache.

Sadly, I was never close with any of my grandparents. I really regret that. I came to America with my mom when I was around 2 years old. My grandparents stayed in India all my life. After I learned to talk, my parents tried to connect me to them through the phone but there was always a language barrier.. which only seemed to grow larger as each year passed.

Its weird for me, most of my friends are all very close with their grandparents but i've never experienced something like that. I felt sad when they passed ... and I treasure every memory I have of them from my visits to India over the years. But more than anything, after they passed, I felt more sad for my father. He lost both his parents within 6 months. I have never seen my father cry but that evening when he heard my grandmother passed... I could only watch in silence as he slumped over the bed in grief. I know my father has sooo many regrets. He would always tell me how it made him sad that I never knew my grandparents.. and how they never got to know me. I've gone through life so nonchalant about that fact. "You can't miss what you've never had". It never really bothered me that I never got to know them before. But as I continued to watch my father rub his face furiously... take deep broken breaths... I suddenly wished I had. I wish I knew the two people who my father called his parents. So that maybe, I could share his pain.. share his memories and remember them well with him.

Dad: I really messed up. Coming here (America) was both good and bad. Coming here.. you never got to know your grandparents... I really wish you had. That was the bad part...
Me: ::sad smile:: I really wish I could have gotten to know them better too Dad. Thats why dont worry, my kids will always be with you two. I never got to know what it was like to have all that but I want my kids to have that relationship, that love, that companionship with their grandparents. Heck, moms gonna steal my children all the time anyway. So be ready for that, yeah?
Dad: ::smirk:: Yeah, of course.

I never got to experience being spoiled and babied by my grandparents but even still, I wont ever say I didnt feel their love for me. Even when I couldnt understand them through the phone I could tell how happy they were to hear my voice. In india, my grandmother dried my hair with a hand fan and we sat there for hours. My grandfather would sneak chocolates for me when I wasnt in the best of moods, even though we couldnt communicate with each other. My other grandfather shows my pictures to his friends and says "thats MY only granddaughter... look how beautiful she is". So love was something I never lacked from them.

I want my kids to feel all that and more. I love my parents and I hope that maybe... my children can bring them all the memories that I could never give their parents.

Koala Nose

Since as far back as I can remember, my friends have always compared me to a Koala... Panda - sure sometimes.. but the Koala always won out. No I didnt get compared to anything cool like a beautiful bird or anything exotic.... I got a Koala. But most of all they said my NOSE looked like a Koala nose. I... I dunno... I guess so? lol I don't really think Koalas are cute so it makes me sad. Why couldn't I look like a RED PANDA!? They're frickin adorable =)

But I am what I am, and I guess that's a Koala... =p

damn,... i'm even wearing grey... its fate >_>

Breathe By Taylor Swift ft. Colbie Caillat

No matter how long it's been, stupid song ALWAYS gets stuck in my head. It keeps me in a calm, serene mood good for thinking. And I don't even like Taylor Swift ...

I see your face in my mind as I drive away
'Cause none of us thought it was gonna end that way
People are people and sometimes we change our minds
But it's killing me to see you go after all this time

Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm

Music starts playin' like the end of a sad movie
It's the kinda ending you don't really wanna see
'Cause it's tragedy and it'll only bring you down
Now I don't know what to be without you around

And we know it's never simple, never easy
Never a clean break, no one here to save me
You're the only thing I know like the back of my hand

And I cant,
Breathe,
Without you

rant rant rant

All my friends have been telling me im “the planner”.

So whenever people want to get together, or plan something whether its a big outing, party or just a casual dinner - I automatically get labled as “the planner”.

No thanks. Sure, I like to see my friends so I do put effort into calling people and making follow ups but dont assume its my job. I dont mind getting people together but dont plan events yourself and then leave me to call 20 something people. It sucks putting events together. Even when you put all the information on facebook/email/text w.e people act retarded and ask you the same questions that are already clearly answered if they would just READ THE DAMN EVENT PAGE. So its not always fun putting stuff together - my phone gets blown up all the time.

People also like to place the blame on me when certain people dont get invited or when the time/date/place doesnt suit them. Most of the time I dont pick any of those, I just hit up people to let them know wassap. “Oh… so-and-so didnt come cause you didnt invite them, so they were feeling bad” FUCK THAT. Im not the only person going, its never “my thing” so if you want certain ppl to come YOU invite them. And when a place is picked (cause everyone either agreed or didnt state any opinion) then everyone wants to complain about it later. SCREW YOU GUYS.

Another thing that pisses me off is when people are really excited and say “oh hey we should do this… or we should go there..we should deff plan it” Then we (hah, I mean I) plan it out and suddenly NO ONE wants to do it or are all hesitant. Ok whatthefuk.

And when friends hit you up out of no where and say “hey I wanna do this - tell everyone and make it happen”. HAHA you funny. You wanna do it, you wanna see people, you wanna go out?? You got a phone, if you want to see YOUR friends then please CALL THEM. “But your the planner…” OR NOT.

Basically, I never asked to be “the planner” for anybody. So dont try and make me feel guilty or put me on the spot when you wanna plan something, go somewhere, see some people. I also dont appreciate people telling me their plans didnt work out because I didnt call people for them. Recently I have people basically saying “oh we wanted to go to this place but you didnt plan it so we didnt go”.

Its not like im not busy on my own ish either. Difference is, If I want to see people I make that effort myself to make it happen.

I also dont appreciate when people say “hey we need to hang out, I havent seen you in so long!” etc. etc. And I reply “Yeah, deff hit me up when your free”. Then they wanna blame me later saying I never hit them up. Well they never sent me word or hit me up since then either so kiss my ass. Plus most of the time Im the one calling them out with actual dates but they seem to forget that when they think that one “omg we need to hang out” msg makes up for it. So again, Kiss my ass with those shitty excuses.

I didnt mind so much before, but now I guess im honestly just really tired of it. I love seeing my friends and I dont mind helping get people together - but dont take advantage of that and leave it all up to me to make it happen or blame me when it doesnt go the way you want. So maybe for now i’ll just stop doing it. Just let people hit me up. Im NOT anybodys personal planner.

(just receives a text about going out tomorrow) ::smiles:: YUP. SO MUCH EASIER

.........................................................
Friend: GET OUT! ::points to door::
About a year ago I was chatting with a coworker at the registers when she told me how she hadn’t been feeling too well lately. I told her to go to the doctors - “I’m sure its nothing serious but you should go check to be sure”. Two weeks later she was in the hospital because they found a tumor in her side. A few months later I heard she had been released from the hospital. A few more months later I heard she was walking around and doing much better. Last week I heard she was back in the hospital under care to keep her comfortable in her last few days. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was given only two weeks.

“Would you like to write a card and send it to her?”

But what was I supposed to write?

“Don’t worry, she knows shes dying… shes accepted it. So don’t feel like you have to avoid talking about it…”

But WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO WRITE!?

“Think about what you’d want someone to say to you if you only had two more weeks left to live.”

After thinking over it I knew exactly what I wanted to say. What I would want for someone else to say to me. I don’t need any cliches… any false hopes… any sympathy or pity. I would want someone to tell me how much I meant to them. If I was able to help them, guide them, impact them and inspire them in any way. So I wrote to her. I told her how grateful I am to have met someone as sweet, caring and compassionate as her. How her jokes and laughs always made me smile. How I am going to miss seeing her around. I wrote about specific memories and dialogues we’ve shared and how I remember her words of wisdom. How being able to chat with her during slow times at work helped pass the time and how she always laughed at my lame jokes. What I loved about her personality. How proud I was of how strong and courageous she has been through all her sufferings. How blessed we all were to have gotten to know someone like her. Letting her know that I will always remember her. And that the next time I see her will be in our Father’s Kingdom. Always with my love and prayers.

Doris, may you always continue to smile that beautiful smile of yours

family bonding

My family has never been the mushy-gushy type. We rarely spend time together and we dont say “i love you” either. We like to think its understood. We dont have family dinners. We stay in our respective rooms. I barely see my father and my mothers usually busy. My brother and I live and breathe in front of our computers.

So after actually spending time with my family sunday night I realized how much I really do love them. We all get so caught up in our own daily schedules we forget to take time out to enjoy each others presence. I have never laughed so much in one night then I did with my family then. I forgot how caring and compulsive my mother is. How silly and goofy my father is. How annoying yet amusing my brother is. It showed me how rotten we’ve become by technology…. So I think I will start taking out more time in my ‘busy’ schedule to spend time with my family because being with them beats being on here writing to you all any day ;)

superhero for a day

Sunday when the mini tornado/storm - thing happened I was at work. My friend recieved a text saying “tornado warning with severe thunderstorms DANGEROUS CONDITIONS AND LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS” - like idiots my co worker and I laughed It off but as soon as we did the lights got cut and the crazy a$$ storm hit =(

With the power cut lots of customers were stuck wandering in the darkness so I quickly grabbed some flashlights off the shelves and ran through the darkness calling out to anyone who needed help. Luckily I found an old lady stuck in a back corner all alone because she couldn’t walk and she was afraid to move. So I came and got her and helped her to the front. I found several other customers in the dark as well. Running around helping people was exhilarating… the best feeling.. and the most helpful i’ve felt in a while. My mini superhero moment!

Dad: You know your cousin Asha looks just like you. People would probably think you guys were sisters. ::looks at me:: Exactly like her!
Me: Oh yeah? Hows she doing?
Dad: Oh.. shes tryna do modeling or something :: waves dismissive hand::
Me: Whats wrong with that?
Dad: ::clucks tongue:: With a face like that shes not going to go anywhere big... Its a waste... she really likes it but she cant get anywhere with her looks.
Me: Gee thanks Dad
Dad: What? She cant help how she looks, she should do something else like nursing
Me: .... I don't think you understand what your saying to me
Me: Nah I can't go tomorrow - going out to buy an elliptical with the mom
Cuzzo: Whats an elliptical?
Me: It's a brain machine to enhance my super powers...
Cuzzo: Pshh you have no brain! No seriously I need to know what it is now..
Me: It's a steam pot to make food...
Cuzzo: Well that wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be
Me: =]

L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

‘All the same,’ said the Scarecrow, ‘I shall ask for brains instead of a heart; for a fool would not know what to do with a heart if he had one.’

‘I shall take the heart,’ returned the Tin Woodman; ‘for brains do not make one happy, and happiness is the best thing in the world.’
